However, in space (i.e. under micro-gravity condition), the method cannot be adopted. Many methods were proposed such as utilizing centrifugal force, capillary force and surface tension. But it is estimated to be difficult to apply to convective two-phase flows with high flow rate due to the low capacity. In this study, a method of a T-junction by using the difference of inertia force between gas and liquid phases is proposed for a first-step and rough separation. Experiments were made for the phase distribution and junction pressure drops of low pressure(1.5bar) air -water mixtures at a horizontal, equal-sided (10mm i.d.) impacting tee junction. The inlet flow regimes were confined to be wavy, plug, slug and annular flow with inlet superficial liquid velocities JL1=0.47,0.95,2.36 m/s and inlet superficial gas velocities JG1=0.5,1.4,4.5,14,30 m/s. Comparasions between model predictions and the available data, corresponding to different flow regimes, a good agreement was gotten.
