中国英语学习者在阅读中所使用的词义推断策略研究

        词汇在阅读理解中的重要作用引起了人们对词义推断策略的关注。本文研究中国英语学习者在阅读理解中词义推断策略的使用情况。100名来自大庆石油学院的大三学生参加了这个实验。调查数据是通过词义推断策略测试进行收集的。研究结果显示中国大学生在阅读时会使用释义策略,上下文线索,背景知识线索以及词形线索。在四个词义猜测策略中上下文线索是最经常使用的策略,词形线索是最不经常使用的策略。词义猜测策略的使用和学生的阅读理解成绩有重要关系。研究结果证明了词义推断策略在阅读理解中所起到的提高理解能力的作用,同时也号召我们在英语教学过程中进行词义推断策略教学。
    The role of lexical inference strategy has received great attention due to the importance of vocabulary in reading comprehension. This study investigates the use of lexical inference strategy in reading comprehension by Chinese EFL learners. 100 junior students in Da Qing Petroleum Institute participated in this study. Data were collected through lexical inference strategy tests. The findings suggest that EFL learners use paraphrasing strategy, context clues, background knowledge clues as well as morphological clues in reading comprehension. Among the four strategies, context clue is the most frequently used strategy, morphological clue is the least used strategy. There is a great correlation between the use of lexical inference strategy and their reading comprehension scores. The findings lend support to the contribution of lexical inference strategy to better understanding in reading comprehension and call for explicit instruction of lexical inference strategy in English instruction.
